Just a Line: The first cross-platform collaborative AR app (for doodling)

In March, we released Just a Line, an experimental Android app that lets you draw in the air with your phone. Since then, people have posted thousands of drawings made with #justaline on Instagram and Twitter.

Today, we’re continuing the experiment with a version of Just a Line for iPhone, along with a new feature for both Android and iOS that lets you draw with a friend. This makes Just a Line the first app that lets two people create together in AR, at the same time, across Android and iOS.

Just put two phones side-by-side and tap the partner icon. Once the phones are connected, you and your partner will be able to see, and contribute to, the same drawing.

We previewed this version of Just a Line at Google I/O a few weeks ago. And now it’s available on any Android device that supports ARCore as well as the latest iPhone models. Get it on the Play Store or iOS App Store. If you’re a developer, check out the open-source code for Android and iOS to see how you can build shared AR experiences into your own app using ARCore’s Cloud Anchors.
